2001 Toyota Tundra Metal Shavings In Transmission Pan
OK guys I am finally doing the write up for my 2001 Corolla 4speed auto transmission drainfilterrefill.
2001 toyota tundra metal shavings in transmission pan. Keep an eye on the in line filter. A great idea after overhauling the transmission to catch any remaining metal particles in the system but should be removed from the cooling line as it will restrict cooling flow if it plugs up. DIY you could do a pan drop and look at the filtermagnets that allude to the condition of your trans.
The cost of a new 2016 Toyota Tundra transmission could be over 3500 depending on the vehicle however transmission services such as fluid changes and a transmission fluid flush are considerably less expensive in some cases costing less than 150. There were zero metal shavings. Just did an automatic transmission drain and refill on a 2006 Hyundai Elantra.
In my opinion this was a complete waste of time. Here is a photo of the shavings that were on it. It catches what the magnets dont before it can get back to the oil pan. The deep pan design increases fluid capacity by 35-quarts over the stock OE. Use the 14 MM socket to take out the drain plug and empty out the fluid.
I had the transmission fluid changed and the transmission pan dropped. The transmission occasionally made a clunking noise and felt like the tire hit a small pothole in the road when shifting into overdrive. High metal shavings content etc.
One problem related to manual transmission column shift has been reported for the 2000 Toyota Tundra. Make sure the engine tranny and fluids are warm. So far im thinking this is the process I warm up the fluid by switching to all gears while parked.
