I pull it but the hood doesnt pop I felt under the latch and there is a cable there along with another piece of plastic but I didnt have time to look more closely.
02 toyota tundra hood won't latch. If faulty or damaged hood components are reused after a collision a new replacement hood may not appear or function properly. If this occurs on your Tundra simply pull up on the hood and it should pop up for you to release the second latch. Pick - up 1994 4cyl.
My hood release cable broke at the hood latch. After that unhook the ball end of the cable from the keyway. The other side of the latch component the part the hood loop presses on seems to be moving but wont articulate far enough to fully latch.
First try smacking the hood at one of the front corners while someone else pulls the release handle. Give it a 14 turn counter-clockwise slam shut and pop hood. When I push the latch down with a screwdriver it wont grab either.
Using a screwdriver carefully pry the cable out of the slot. Use a pliers to pull the release cable out of its notch then thread the ball end out of its catch. I found the latch on the right hand side of the center near the hood latch assembly and fed a shoe lace though it and pulled that latch back to finish unlatching the hood but the hood remains secured.
The lever inside the cab of the truck works however it looks like the cable for the lever behind the grill is broken. Start by checking the cableIf the cable is holding the latch open this will happenTry spraying a little lube on the cable and latch mechanism while some one works the lever from insideIf this is the first time you have had this problen that more that likely this is the problemThe only other thing would be it your latch on the hood is not engaugeing fully into the reciever below then some adjustments will. I have a 05 camry and i went to clean all of the fallen leaves out from under the hood but the release latch is broken I think.
Sometimes the hood on Toyotas gets stuck and wont pop up after the interior latch is released. To do so use a 10mm socket or wrench to remove the 3 bolts holding it in place. Also the hood wont close it.
